Sometimes we need your help, either by running some test on the binary nvidia driver or testing the nouveau driver.

Please, consider using Nouveau for 2D desktop daily and updating it weekly, it helps to discover regressions early.

TVout reverse engineering Geforce4/GeforceFX/6/7 (NV17/NV18/NV25/NV28/NV3x/NV4x)

Not much is known of the functioning of the integrated tvout functionality of Geforce4/FX/6/7 boards. A big part of the GPU registers related to tvout are known but their exact purpose not. NVClock (latest from CVS) is able to dump these registers. What is needed are logs using 'nvclock -D' showing these registers. We need as much data as possible so run it at different tvout resolutions, using different TV standards, different overscan values and so on. But clearly specify for each log what settings were used (tvout standard, resolution, overscan, ..). Try to adjust only 1 setting at a time.

Next to an NVClock dump an mmio-trace of setting up tvout is also very useful.

The most useful reports are ones when the blob is active as that in general is the only situation in which tvout is active. Logs when the system has been booted up with tvout are useful too. A log without tvout can also be useful.

NVClock can be download using the following commands:
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@nvclock.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/nvclock login (there is no password, just hit enter)
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@nvclock.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/nvclock co -P nvclock
